About Current HR
Current HR, LLC is a Fort Wright, Kentucky-based Professional Employer Organization launched in January 2021 by CEO Charlie Vance and COO Megan O Brien, both veterans of the regional HR and PEO industry. The company was formed alongside partners from DBL Law and Blue and Co., an accounting and consulting firm with offices across Kentucky, Ohio, and Indiana, giving Current HR direct legal and accounting expertise built into its founding team. Current HR is ESAC accredited and serves employers across Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana, with services spanning HR administration, employee benefits, workers compensation, payroll processing, and a self-service HR technology platform with mobile access. Clients cited in company materials include organizations in medical wholesale distribution, post-secondary education, and nonprofit child services, reflecting a client base weighted toward the Tri-State Ohio Valley region. As a newer entrant compared with legacy regional PEOs, Current HR positions itself around direct access to its founding HR, legal, and accounting leadership rather than call-center-style support.
Certifications
ESAC accreditation is awarded by the Employer Services Assurance Corporation, the PEO industry's gold-standard independent accreditor. It requires a PEO to meet more than 40 financial, ethical, and operational standards on an ongoing basis. Current HR holds ESAC accreditation — a distinction held by roughly 10% of PEOs in the United States.

Pros & Cons
Current HR is a newer regional PEO built by experienced HR, legal, and accounting professionals rather than a startup entering the industry cold. Its 2021 launch means it does not have the multi-decade track record of older regional competitors, but its ESAC accreditation and the legal and accounting partnerships built into its founding team are meaningful signals of operational rigor for a young company. Current HR does not currently hold IRS CPEO certification. Best for: small and mid-sized employers in the Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana Tri-State region that want a regionally focused PEO with direct access to experienced leadership.
